Surgery Day - Chock Full of Emotions

The day started REALLY early, 5 a.m. to be exact. Oh, did I mention that I the last time I ate was at 10:30pm and was not allowed to eat until the surgery was completed?

After we arrived at Children's Healthcare, I was quickly whisked away to take some vitals: Blood pressure, heart rate, etc. Of course, I made my presence known by crying bloody murder.

After that, we were escorted to the Pre-Op room where I donned a pretty little gown (see pics below).

The nurse said I had congestion, so I had to endure a breathing treatment...not fun! After the treatment, mom carried me back to the OR. Next thing I know, I am waking up in a Post-Op room with folks staring at me. I downed 2 ounces of Pedialyte and 6 ounces of formula.
I was discharged and it was off to the hizzy after that, where I took several naps.

After the naps, it was non-stop play time for me! New Toys awaited my anxious little hands, begging to be played with. Below are a couple of pictures from those glorious times.

All in all, it was a very busy day, with a wide spectrum of emotions: Fear, Sadness, Anger (at the medical staff), confusion, and most of all, JOY! Joy that my ears FINALLY felt good! I want to thank everyone for their prayers for a safe and effective surgery - those prayers were certainly answered!!!

BABY GIRL!!!
It completely breaks my heart to see you in that hospital gown. You look so scared and confused. I wish I could have done it for you. Anyways, Im so glad that the surgery was fast and successful. I hope now you can hear all the great and beautiful sounds of life.
I LOVE YOU SWEET GIRL!!!

Autie Rae,
I understand that you had quite an entourage traveling with you on your way to the hospital the other morning. And I thought that dignitaries and hip-hop stars were the only ones that warranted THAT kind of following. Well, this can ONLY mean one thing for me...I'm on the hook for MORE toys for YOU! I don't believe that I could EVER garner the amount of attention you've received lately even if I were hit by a speeding car and lying prostrate in the streets! Those pictures of you in the hospital gown wearing a melancholy face have elicited so much sympathy of late, that I'm actually beginning to believe that you may have just discovered a shortcut to the "Bright Lights" of fame and fortune! You've REALLY got people thinking and talking about you, little girl. And, I must admit, I'm ONE of those aforementioned! Either that, or, I'm one of those that P. T. Barnum of Barnum and Bailey fame describes as, "a sucker born every minute!" Whatever the case may be, you've got your old Uncle Al jumping through hoops. And as your loving and wise Dada would say, "That's the way it SHOULD be!"

"Live Long and Prosper!"
